Florence is part of one of the most visited tourist cities in the world, full of exceptional architectural heritage. It owes its artistic influence to several Florentine artists who have marked the history of art such as Brunelleschi, Leonardo da Vinci, Giotto or Michelangelo.

Piazza di Santa Croce (Florence, Italia) is in our opinion a place of breathing in the middle of a large urban density. This makes it a meeting point for tourists, artists and locals. Reflecting on the design of a Museum for the Arts and Crafts (MAMe) on this site was obvious to us.Our project must be an architecture that speaks of identity, we dedicate an important representation value. Architecture of the place, she must appropriate the history of Florence in this exceptional context. Thus, as a contemporary architecture it must be able to interact with the pre-existences that surround the project area. This is why we have steered our project significantly towards the Basilica of SantaCroce. Architecture of the place, the building signals and is positioned as an extension of the square to the basilica. Elevation of the public square, it does not obstruct the path of pedestrians, the place then retains its original function of gathering. At the site scale, the views of the basilica are preserved, the shearing of the adjacent streets directs the pedestrian so as to constantly frame his vision on the Basilica of Santa Croce. At the scale of the building, the vertical walls are glazed to the maximum, bringing brightness and direct vision from inside to outside but also from outside to inside. The central patio of the large showroom significantly increases its total opening position. With regard to the program, it is divided into two parts, themselves divided into two joint buildings. The first concerns mainly "public" spaces such as the bookstore or the exhibition hall. While the second wing of the building concerns the workshop open to the public from the square. Thus the overall form of the project establishes a connection link by embedding the two symmetrical and opposite forms. At the pace of pedestrians, the MAMe will prevail in the living public space.
